بررسیِ تاثیرِ الهیاتِ مسیحیِ لیبرالی بر دین‌پژوهی تطبیقی

دین پژوهیِ تطبیقی در آغازِ حیاتِ خود در سده ی نوزدهم در اروپا، در مناسباتش با نهادِ دینِ مسیحیت و با نهادِ علم چالش هایی در پیش داشت. مسیحیت از وجهِ دینی و علمِ جدید از وجه علمی به «علمِ دین» ایرادهایی می‌گرفتند. در همین دوره در الهیاتِ مسیحیِ پروتستان جریانی پیشرو و جویای همراهی با وضعیتِ مدرن شکل گرفت، موسوم به الهیاتِ لیبرالی، که راه را برای علمِ نوپای دین پژوهیِ تطبیقی هموار کرد و بر آن تاثیراتی هم بر جا گذاشت. در این مقاله که به روشی توصیفی و تحلیلی نوشته شده است، مواردِ مهمی از این تاثیرگذاریِ الهیاتِ لیبرالی بر علمِ دین پژوهیِ تطبیقی نشان داده شده اند؛ الهیاتِ لیبرالی انحصارگرا نبود و نگاهی عام تر به دین داشت، برای تجربه های شهودی و غیرعقلانیِ دینی شان و جایگاهی قائل شد، در آموزه های مابعدالطبیعیِ مسیحی بازنگری کرد و از اهمیتِ شماری از آن ها کاست. درعوض بر اهمیتِ محورهایی دیگر همچون اخلاق افزود، به پژوهش های تاریخی درباره ی صدرِ مسیحیت و کتابِ مقدس مجال و اهمیت داد و همچنین برای آشتیِ دین و علم کوشید. این ویژگی ها در کاستن از چالش های پیشِ رویِ دین پژوهیِ تطبیقی موثر بودند. الهیاتِ لیبرال با طرحِ مباحثِ فوق راه را برای تثبیتِ دین پژوهی باز کرد و علاوه بر این موجبِ طرحِ مباحثی در دین پژوهیِ تطبیقی شد؛ تقریب ادیان و صلح باوری و همچنین رویکردی طرفدارِ تجربه ی درونی با محوریتِ اندیشه های رودلف اتو از این قبیل هستند.

The Impact of Liberal Christian Theology on Comparative Religious Studies

Comparative Religious research faced many challenges in its relations with Christianity and science from its inception in the 19th century. Christianity and modern science were critical of theology from both religious and scientific points of view respectively. During the same period, a pioneering school in Protestant Theology known as Liberal Theology was established, which sought compatibility with the new developments, paved the way for the nascent Comparative Religious research, and exerted some impact on it, too. The analytical and descriptive approach in this study has elaborated on some of the effects of liberal theology on Comparative Religious research. Liberal theology was not an exclusivist and held a broader view of religion, took the nonrational and intuitional experiences more seriously, made revisions in metaphysical Christian doctrines and, while lessening the importance of some of them, attached more significance to some others. It underlined the importance of morality, and historical research on early Christianity and the Bible. Moreover, it attempted to reconcile science and religion. These characteristics of Liberal Theology were instrumental in resolving the difficulties in the path of Comparative Religious research. By introducing these subjects, Liberal theology paved the ground for the establishment of Comparative Religious research. In addition, the liberal tendencies of some scholars sparked in Comparative Religious research discussions about such concepts as pacifism, the conciliation of religions, and the emergence of an attitude of nonrational experience based on Rudolph Otto’s idea of the numinous.
