نقد موج های جماعت گرایی به لیبرالیسم

هرچند از عمر مکتب جماعت گرایی کمتر از نیم قرن می گذرد، اما مباحثات مهمی بالاخص در نقد لیبرالیسم مطرح نموده است. این مکتب در معنای تخصصی خود، دو موج داشته است: جماعت گرایی آکادمیک دهه 1980، و جماعت گرایی پاسخگو در دهه 1990 (در زمان ریگان و تاچر). موج اول به نظریه پردازانی اختصاص داشت که در مقابل فردگرایی، ابعاد اجتماعی انسان را برجسته می کردند. اندیشمندان موج دوم با تاکید بر مباحث جامعه شناسانه معتقدند جامعه نمی تواند صرفاً بر یک هنجار واحد بنا شود؛ و به همین دلیل، خیر عمومی تقدم پیدا می کند. نقد مایکل سندل به جان راولز به موج اول، و تاملات فلسفی و جامعه شناسانه امیتای اتزیونی و ویلیام گلستون به موج دوم مربوط می شود. در حالی که موج اول جماعت گرایی نقدهایی آکادمیک، و عمدتاً نظری، به لیبرالیسم وارد کرده است، موج دوم با رویکردی جامعه شناسانه، و در عین حال فلسفی، در صدد است مشکلات لیبرالیسم را در عرصه عمل نشان دهد.

Criticisms of liberalism by Waves of Communitarianism

According to communitarianism, a person’s social identity and personality are largely molded by community relationships, with a smaller degree of development being placed on individualism. This school of thought usually opposes extreme individualism and disagrees with extreme laissez faire policies that neglect the stability of the overall community. Although communitarianism is considered as a new school of thought, it has criticized the main notions of liberalism in many aspects. This school of thought, in its narrow and specialized meaning, has two waves: the academic wave in 1980s and the responsive wave in 1990s. Michel Sandel and Michel Walzer, as the most prominent advocates of the first wave, have put special questions on the liberalist bases. Since the first wave of communitarianism is based on academic level, the second wave, such as the works of Amitai Etzioni and William Galston, are sociological researches.
