چکیده
|
Traditionally james morierr s hajji baba novels are taken as oricntalist accounts of persia and the east in general. in this paper it is argued that these novels are as much about britain as about persia and the east. they have a dual ideological thrust: a critique of british society in early nineteenth century as well as an articulation and inculcation of imperial/colonial expansion.these two aspects it is suggested are in the final analysis of a piece. hence any consideration of these novels needs to address their essentially dual discursive function
