This stlldy investigation the wash back effect ofalternatives in assesslnent (i. e. self-assess1nent, cross-lepelpeer-assessi11ent, scllne-level peer-assess111ent, andconference) on iranian efl learners. to achieve thepllrpose of this study, a pre-test, post-test, and jourfonnative tests rvere developed based oil the content on thecontent oj the official pre-university course book taught intran. the subjects of this study were ralldoln1y assigned toone of the alternative assessl1zents, and they received fourfonnative tests and conlpleted tasks based on theassll1nptions (~f the alternative assesslnent they belong to.the result suggest that language pra titioners can elnployalternative assesslnents and co-operative learning, insteadof focusing on traditional type of assessment, to pronlotelearners involvelnent in their language learning processes
