   Isolation of a Geam- positive bacterium with Dibenzothiophene Desulfurization activity from Gasoline- Soil

چکیده    A gram-positive bacterium isolated from gasoline - soil in isfahan which can grow on dibenzothiophene (dbt) as sole source of sulfur. this strain that was identified a strain of the genus rhodococcus by biochemical tests, could efficiently desulfurize dbt, a model organosulfur compound that exists in crude oil. the desulfurization product ofdbt was identified as 2-hydroxybiphenyl (2-hbp) by gibbs reagent. the obt content of basal salt medium (bsm) supplemented with glucose and dbt as sole carbon and sulfur sources respectively, was reduced by 100% after 100 h incubation with this strain at 30°c.
