بازگردانی اطمینان به مفید بودن رشتهٔ ریاضی با آموزش ریاضیات مفید به دانشجویان کارشناسی

این مقاله دربارۀ چرایی و چگونگی ایجاد رشتهٔ جدیدی به نام «ریاضیات کاربردی و محاسباتی» در دانشگاه بریگم یانگ است که به منظور ایجاد انگیزهٔ بیشتر و بازگرداندن اطمینان بیشتر از مفید بودن رشتهٔ ریاضی برای دانشجویان تاسیس شده است. برنامهٔ درسی آن طوری است که دانشجویانِ شادتر و بیشتری جذب ‌کند و همچنین انگیزۀ همکاری ایجاد ‌کند، توانایی دانشجویان را برای یادگیری بهبود ‌دهد، توانایی و اعتمادبه‌نفس را برای حل مسائل دشوار ایجاد ‌کند، و فرصت‌های شغلی بهتری را برای فارغ‌التحصیلان آن به ارمغان ‌آورد.‎ م.‎

restoring confidence in the value of mathematics by teaching undergraduates math they will use

at brigham young university, we have launched a new program called the applied and computational mathematics to deliver on the promise of mathematical value to our students. in this paper, we give you some ideas of both why and how to implement a program that teaches students mathematics that they can use, and prepares them to actually use it. the acme curriculum is a challenging and rigorous curriculum in mathematics attracts more and happier students, motivates collaboration, develops students' ability to learn, develops ability and confidence to solve hard problems, and brings better job opportunities for graduates.
