تجاهل بورباکی

آدریان متایاس رویکر‏د بورباکی به مبانی ریاضیات، منطق‏، و نظریه‎‏ٔ مجموعه‌ها را به نقد کشیده‌ است.او معتقد است که بورباکی با اینکه از نتایج گودل در عدم امکان تکمیل برنامهٔ صورت‎‏‌گرایی هیلبرت برای ریاضیاتمطّلع بوده است، خود را به تجاهل زده و از آوردن نام گودل و اشاره به قضیه‌های او به‌کلی خودداری کرده است.پس از گمانه‌زنی دربارهٔ علت احتمالی این امر، نویسنده به تفاوت درک حسابی و هندسی در ریاضیات پرداخته است.به نظر وی‏، اصول تسرملو، که مورد تایید بورباکی نیز بوده، برای جنبهٔ هندسی ریاضیات کافی‌اند، ولی جنبهٔ حسابی ریاضیات نیازمند اصول تسرملو‌-‌‌فرانکل است. م .

the ignorance of bourbaki

the author criticizes bourbaki’s approach to fundamentals of mathematics,logic and set theory. he believes that despite being already aware of the impact ofgödel’s proof on hilbert’s program of formalism, the group deliberately chose to ignoreit, so far as they even refused to mention gödel and address his work. he then points outthe difference between arithmetic and geometric aspects of mathematics, and suggeststhat zermelo’s set theory, which was acknowledged by bourbaki, suffices only for thegeometric part whereas the arithmetic side needs to rely on zermelo-fraenkel systemof axioms.
